Receiving correction well
When a conductor stops, corrects, or pushes them, humility and respect for mentorship grow. The goal is for your child to hear “do that again, better” as care, not criticism.
Your part: speak well of their conductor at home. When they come home frustrated at being corrected, help them separate “I was corrected” from “I am not good enough”. Correction is what people invest in those they believe in.
Keeping your word when something better comes along
When sport, a party, or a busier term collides with rehearsal, faithfulness to a commitment and the discipline of priorities grow. An ensemble is a body; when one person doesn’t show, everyone feels it.
Your part: before the term starts, look at the calendar together and decide where the ensemble sits. Teach them that their presence is a gift to the whole, not just a personal choice.
