The four moments
- The first few weeks — shyness, “I don’t know anyone”. Encourage them to give welcome; ask who they met, by name.
- The busy or exam terms — “I don’t have time anymore”. Plan the calendar together early, and protect the commitment rather than dropping it.
- The week after a concert — flatness, “maybe I’ll stop”. Celebrate what they achieved first, and don’t let a tired week make the decision.
- Any sudden “I want to quit” — get curious, find the one fixable thing underneath, and tell us.
Tell us early
If your child is struggling, tell us early. We would always rather have a warm conversation while something is still small than discover it after a young person has drifted away. A quick message is never a bother. It is exactly what we are here for. On rehearsal day, a quick text to 0489 991 212 reaches us, or email youth@australianchristianarts.com.
