The Moments to Be Ready For

Wavering is not random. It tends to arrive at four predictable points. If you know they are coming, you can meet each one on purpose instead of being caught out.

The four moments

  • The first few weeks — shyness, “I don’t know anyone”. Give welcome rather than wait for it, and aim to learn one new name each week.
  • The busy or exam terms — “I don’t have time anymore”. Plan your calendar early, and protect the commitment rather than dropping it.
  • The week after a concert — flatness, “maybe I’ll stop”. Mark what you achieved first, and don’t let a tired week make the decision for you.
  • Any sudden “I want to quit” — get curious, find the one fixable thing underneath, and tell us.

Tell us early

If you are struggling, tell us early. We would always rather have a warm conversation while something is still small than find out after you have drifted away. A quick message is never a bother. It is exactly what we are here for. On rehearsal day, a quick text to 0489 991 212 reaches us, or email youth@australianchristianarts.com.
