Be there, and be on time
Youth rehearsals run from 5 to 7pm. Your section is counting on your part being in the room, so aim to arrive ready a few minutes early. If you cannot make a rehearsal, let us know in advance the same way you would tell a team you play sport with, so no one is left wondering. See how to let us know about an absence.
Getting there and home
Sign in when you arrive and sign out when you leave, at the attendance desk. If you are under 18, your parent or carer will have told us who may collect you and whether you have permission to travel on your own. Please stick to what has been agreed so we always know you have got home safely. The Getting There & Home page has the detail.
How we treat each other
A few simple norms keep the room focused and safe:
- Let the conductor and Home Team lead the room, and give rehearsal your full attention.
- Treat leaders, other members and their families with warmth and respect. Our Member Code of Conduct sets the tone.
- At concerts, follow the venue and Home Team directions about seating, entry and exits.
Staying in touch, safely
Heartbeat is our home base for youth program updates (heartbeat.australianchristianarts.com, or the app). For anything you need, email youth@australianchristianarts.com, or on rehearsal day a quick text to 0489 991 212 reaches us.
Please keep in touch through these official channels only. Our leaders will never contact young members privately or add them on personal social media, and if anyone ever does, tell a parent or a leader you trust straight away. This is part of how we keep everyone safe, and it protects you and our leaders alike.
Photos and video
AChA’s own photos and video are taken only by specific authorised people, and are covered by the Talent Release and Performance Consent agreed at sign-up (for under-18 members, by a parent or carer). If you take your own photos, please do not post images that clearly show other members on social media without their consent.
If something does not feel right
If anything about your safety or wellbeing at AChA ever does not sit right, you can always tell a leader you trust, or a parent, and we will take it seriously. You can also put it in writing in confidence with the Child Safety Incident & Concern Report. Speaking up is never a bother; it is exactly the right thing to do.
