What to Expect at Rehearsals

A quick picture of how a youth rehearsal works, so your child’s first one feels familiar rather than daunting, for them and for you.

When and where

Youth rehearsals run from 5 to 7pm. Heartbeat is our home base for the venue, dates, and any week-to-week details: heartbeat.australianchristianarts.com, or the app.

Drop-off and collection

Drop your child at the venue entrance, where the Welfare Officer manages the handover. Please sign your child in and out, and tell us in advance who may collect them (email youth@australianchristianarts.com). Let us know if your child has your permission to travel home on their own. The Drop-off, Pick-up & Supervision page has the detail.

Why you don’t stay to watch

Parents and carers drop off and collect rather than staying in the room. This is a deliberate child-safe choice, not a lack of welcome: it keeps the rehearsal space screened and properly supervised. We schedule open rehearsals and family dress runs separately, with explicit invitations, so you will still get to see your child perform.

What to bring

Their instrument and music, a water bottle, and a pencil. Check Heartbeat for anything specific to your child’s program. For performances, see the dress code.

In the room

The conductor and the Welfare Officer lead the rehearsal, and the two-adult rule applies at every moment. The minimum age for participation is 14, or Year 9, whichever is later. If you ever need us on rehearsal day, a quick text to 0489 991 212 reaches us.
